Ministry of Local Government and Community Development

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development runs Jamaica's local government portal. Its service pages cover property tax payment with three payment methods set out, building permit applications with the requirements explained, trade licence information, and access to information requests for official documents and amendments to personal records.

The site also acts as the directory for all 14 municipal corporations, listing mayors, chief executive officers and councillors with contact details, the schedule of council meetings, and the location and jurisdiction of each local authority. Each municipal corporation has its own entity page, and a separate local authority locations directory maps where each one sits.

Publications include the eTIMES quarterly newsletter for the current fiscal year, sectoral presentations, policy documents, ministry papers on local government reform, building permit guidance and the relevant Acts of Parliament. News, project showcases and video galleries are updated on an ongoing basis, and the portal carries information on affiliated agencies including the Social Development Commission, the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the National Solid Waste Management Authority. Access is free.
