What it does
Local Authorities of Jamaica is the shared main portal behind the individual municipal corporation websites. A selector at the top of every page switches between the fourteen local authorities, covering Kingston and St Andrew, Portmore and the twelve parish corporations, and the portal carries a site search that can be filtered by content type including news articles, events, job posts, resources, staff and tender or contract notices.
Reference sections explain local government reform, governance and the legal framework, local government finance, and local economic development. A property tax area covers background, compliance, land valuation and law enforcement, and a development approval section explains the approval process and the AMANDA system used to lodge and track building and subdivision applications.
Directories list the heads of the local authorities, including mayors, administrative heads and municipal police, and the portal carries shared news, press releases and public notices such as reporting defective streetlights to a local authority.
