inDrive (Jamaica)
Peer-to-peer ride-hailing where riders and drivers negotiate the fare
What it does
inDrive is a global ride-hailing app (operating in ~700 cities across 47 countries) that launched service in Jamaica, using a peer-to-peer model where passengers propose a fare and nearby drivers accept or counter-offer. It runs a dedicated Facebook page for its Jamaica market and is listed on both the Jamaica App Store and Google Play (the same global app, not a Jamaica-specific build).
Like Uber, inDrive was named in the Jamaican government's 2024 twelve-month ban on ride-hailing platforms over unregulated-driver concerns; the company has publicly said it intends to keep operating in Jamaica despite the Transport Authority crackdown on its drivers.
