Phoenix International Core Banking
Core banking platform owned by MC Systems and sold to banks and microfinance lenders
By MC Systems
What it does
Phoenix International is a core banking platform owned by MC Systems, the technology company in Jamaica National Group. MC Systems acquired Phoenix International in 2021, which moved a full banking software product into Jamaican ownership rather than leaving local institutions dependent on outside vendors, and now sells it into the Caribbean, Latin America and Africa.
The platform is built on Microsoft technology through each tier, from development environment to database and server operating system, and carries non core modules such as teller, collections, relationship pricing and card management inside the same system rather than as separate bolt ons. MC Systems has since shipped further versions under its own branding.
Locally the product is aimed at banks, credit unions and microfinance institutions. MC Systems signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jamaica Association of Microfinancing giving JAMFIN members access to the core banking system, and the same group's JN Bank is a reference deployment. Confidence here is medium because the vendor's dedicated product site could not be fetched cleanly and the detail comes from the MC Systems page and press coverage.
