PayAveta
Kingston-built mobile wallet for cryptocurrency remittances and cardless small-business payments.
What it does
PayAveta is a Kingston, Jamaica-based mobile digital wallet founded in 2022 by Kashlon Palmer. It lets users buy, sell, send and receive cryptocurrency, and is positioned as a remittance tool for the diaspora: friends and family abroad can send crypto-based remittances from platforms like PayPal, Coinbase, Binance and Cash App, which recipients in Jamaica can convert and use.
The app also supports small businesses that lack a POS machine, letting them accept digital payments directly. PayAveta won first place and a J$500,000 cash prize at the Sagicor Innovation Challenge, held at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech). It remains an early-stage, unfunded company as of this research, available on both Google Play and the App Store.
