What it does
Learn Jamaican teaches Patois vocabulary through short reference entries: each term carries an English meaning and an example sentence showing how it is used, with tap to play audio so the learner hears the pronunciation rather than guessing at the spelling. A word of the day widget puts one term on the home screen.
Practice is handled by flashcards for self paced recall and a ten question quiz that scores immediately and keeps a record over time. A proverbs section collects classic Jamaican sayings with plain English explanations of what each one means, and terms can be saved to a favourites list.
The app is free and has been on the App Store since September 2015. It is published by Nicolaus Lawson, the same developer behind the Courier Jamaica shipping app, with a product site at learnjamaican.app.
