What it does
JamCOVID19 was a Government of Jamaica app built through a public-private partnership with Kingston-based Amber Group Limited during the COVID-19 pandemic. It let travelers and residents self-report health status and symptoms, book COVID-19 testing appointments, request emergency services (police/ambulance), and served as the mandatory travel-authorization portal for anyone entering Jamaica from March 2020 onward.
The app drew significant controversy in 2021 when TechCrunch reported that JamCOVID was storing passport scans, COVID test results and other traveler data on an exposed, passwordless cloud server. It was available on both the App Store and Google Play at launch; both listings are no longer available (the App Store lookup returns no result and the Play Store package returns a 404), consistent with the app's discontinued status.
