Jamaica Patois Translator
Patois translation with cultural notes, a phrasebook and a proverbs wheel
What it does
This app translates English into Jamaican Patois and attaches an explanation of what the resulting phrase means and when it is used, which is the part a plain word swap misses. It also accepts Spanish, French, Portuguese and German as source languages.
Beyond translation it carries a phrasebook grouped into greetings, food, slang, Rasta terms, dancehall terms, travel and family, each entry with audio and an example sentence, plus a favourites list. A proverbs section presents Jamaican sayings on a wheel with their meanings, and a facts section holds cards on culture, nature, music, food, people and geography with a word of the day.
It is published by Di Nerd Apps LLC, first released in April 2026, and is free on the App Store. The developer's project page is hosted on GitHub Pages and gives no company country, so origin is recorded against the subject matter. The same developer publishes a second, related listing called Jamaica Patois Translate.
