Flash

Flash is a Bitcoin services stack built in the Caribbean, published on the stores by Island Bitcoin LLC and developed by a team whose GitHub organisation is registered in Jamaica. The wallet is custodial and runs on the Lightning Network, and the pitch is receiving and holding money rather than trading: users get virtual US dollar and euro account numbers to be paid into, can hold a US dollar denominated balance for stability, and can withdraw to a local bank account, to Bitcoin, or to another Flash wallet.

Transfers between Flash users carry no fee and paying a merchant is free, with a stated 2 percent charge to cash out to a local bank. Receiving works through Lightning addresses and NFC as well as in app, there is a merchant point of sale mode for accepting payments in person, and the interface is translated into more than twenty languages.

There is a developer side as well: a console at console.flashapp.me and documentation at docs.flashapp.me cover an API for integrating Flash payments, and the underlying infrastructure is open source with repositories published under the lnflash organisation. The apps are free on both the App Store and Google Play.
