What it does
eDocine is a telehealth app built by Vilakis Innovations, a Jamaican technology company founded with graduates from The University of the West Indies and University of Technology, Jamaica spanning medical, finance, legal, management and IT backgrounds. It connects patients remotely to doctors via video call, audio call or instant messaging for consultations, and supports scheduling house visits and office appointments, prescriptions, referrals and lab test bookings.
The app was pitched as cutting traditional first-visit consultation costs by up to 50%, and it later offered free medical consultations for hurricane victims in the wider Caribbean (reported via Loop Trinidad & Tobago). Both the App Store listing and the Google Play package (com.edocine.droid) are no longer available, and the app appears to be discontinued.
